EGYPT - Iraq. 1919 (Jan 9), Emergency ‘Old Carthusian’ Military Flight cover, struck with fine F.P.O. 55 c.d.s. in black alongside POSTAGE SERVICE MEF / AERIAL POST BAGHDAD-DELHI / PER / HANDLEY-PAGE AEROPLANE in violet (Firebrace fig. RAFF3). Reverse with circular cachet CARRIED BY AERIAL MAIL / BAGHDAD-DELHI / JANY 1919’ in violet (Firebrace fig. RAFF4) applied in Delhi (Jan 20) and Allahabad c.d.s. arrival (Jan 21) alongside. This is one of just 29 recorded covers picked up at Baghdad on the flight (see Firebrace page 446 who records 6, Kimpton who records 28, this not being listed). (Photo). Est. 800 - 1 000 CHF.

FRANCE - Egypt. 1926 (Sept 27), cover flown by M. D. Cortes and Lieut. de Vitrolles, on proposed attempt on the ‘World Record Straight Line Non-Stop’ Flight, franked by Sower issue 10c. green and 40c. red tied by ‘Bourget Aviation / Seine’ datestamps (27/9). The flight was discontinued at Kom Ombo due to engine trouble after 4’050 kilometres. Franked for return with Egypt 1923 5m. chestnut tied by KOM OMBO c.d.s. (Sept 28, 6pm.). Returned to Le Bourget with c.d.s. on front (2/10). A remarkable and very rare cover, with only 8 covers carried. Muller 156 = 15’000 pts. & Muller 21 = 10’000 pts. (Photo). Est. 750 - 1 000 CHF.

Carberry Flight cover, franked by Egypt 5m. chestnut tied by ‘Shepheards Hotel / Cairo’ c.d.s., mailed to Nairobi and franked by Kenya & Uganda 20c. orange tied by ‘Nairobi’ c.d.s. EGYPT - Zeppelin Mail. 1929-31, three covers, from Egypt (2) and Germany(1) sent by Zeppelin flights to Port Said, Palestine and Germany, bearing all relevant flights markings. Nice and attractive. F.-V.F. (Photo). Est. 100 - 200 CHF.

PERSIA - India. 1900 cover, franked on reverse with India 1/2 anna green and pair 1 anna maroon Queen Victoria issue (Sc 36,38), prepaying the single weight letter rate to Egypt, and all tied by BUSHIRE squared circle cancels. Reverse shows SEA POST OFFICE and SUEZ transits. Scarce usage from this Indian Postal Agency in Persia. (Photo). Est. 150 - 200 CHF.

PERSIA - India. 1913 cover, franked on reverse with five India 1/2 anna green King Edward issue (Sc 61), prepaying the single weight letter rate to Bombay, and all tied by LINGA departure datestamps and MANDVI transit. OMAN (Indian Period) - Germany. 1923 registered KGV uprated stationery envelope sent to Germany, franked on reverse with 1/2A+3A KGV issue for India, all tied by MUSCAT c.d.s. and Berlin arrival, Front shows MUSCAT provisional registration label and green Munich transit alongside. SAUDI ARABIA (Kingdom). 1934-1974, nice group of better sets, in superb l.h. condition including 1934 Proclamation of Emir Saud as Heir Apparent of Arabia imperforate set and perforated 5g to 1S stamps, 1974 scarce UPU set. Michel cat. value Euros 5,400+. (Photo). Est. 1 500 - 1 800 CHF.

SAUDI ARABIA (Nejd Administration of Hejaz). 1926 cover, franked with overprinted 2pi Notarial and 1pi Railway Tax stamps, all tied by native c.d.s. Reverse bears ALEXANDRIA, DJEDDA, and PORT-TAUFIQ transits. A rare cover, showing genuine use of these stamps, and an important Saudi Arabian forerunner. Scott 49,51. (Photo). Est. 300 - 400 CHF.
